Did you know the WEIRDEST vinyl records came from a 1980’s garage located in Hollywood?!

The L.A strip was a hotspot for bands trying to land a record deal.
Some found fame while most got tinnitus!

How did you make your band stand out? One person had the answer.

From furry sided vinyl to sticking shredded dollar bills into records, these unique artifacts were all made by Azra Records – one guy in his garage!

With Record Store Day approaching, HOLLYWOOD’s WEIRDEST RECORD LABEL is where  the world of outsider art in vinyl records meets the L.A’s 1980’s METAL scene!💀🤘

Decades later, thanks to Discogs database, some of these rockstars discovered they were on releases that they never even knew existed!

During lockdown 2020, these records are a breadcrumb trail for filmmaker, Scott Willis to uncover the myths of Hollywood’s weirdest record label, Azra Records.

Midnight phone calls from Edinburgh to Hollywood was how Scott spent his time during lockdown 2020, chatting to reformed rockstars such as Rotten Rod (host of WDLJ 97.5) and other participants, that I’m too scared to mention (…maybe Amoeba Music) to help tell this story.

Hollywood’s Weirdest Record Label is a speed metal patchwork blitz into LA’s 1980’s underground metal scene and a insight into the world of outsider art in vinyl records!
