Huge congrats to Jane McAllister at NEW LiCHT FiLMS on last nights packed out screening for her first feature documentary, “To See Ourselves” 🏴 🎥
“Most grainular depiction of Scotland during that time” Pat Kane, Q&A host called the film, I think.
Regardless of what side of the fence you sit on about Scotland’s Independence Referendum 2014, Jane has captured a unique time capsule by balancing politics with the theme of family. Her film follows Fraser McAllister, a character who plays many roles, Councillor for Musselburgh, Yes Scotland campaigner …her witty father whilst Scotland splits in two.
During production, Jane asked me to get involved to help film as second camera for the project as she was pregnant. Before I knew it I was trying to keep up with Fraser – who could be attending townhall meetings to then accidentally lock himself out of his car and climb through it’s window. So many fun moments!
Always grateful to Jane for the opportunity – also quite touched for my name to be included in the films poster at the cinema 😎👌
After selling out theatre 2, last nights screening moved to a packed Theatre 1 in Glasgow Film Theatre. “To See Ourselves” will be screening next at Inverness’s Eden Court Theatre this week and then Edinburgh’s Summerhall 🍿🎥
