Today is the start of Association Of Illustrators exhibition at Somerset House, London where they will be screening my film Our Nation’s Sons.
The film is a short document detailing the motivation for the project as well as how the illustrations were installed. Our Nation’s Sons began on Saturday 14th April with the pasting of a 40ft drawing to the gable wall of No. 20 Cowgate, Edinburgh. Over the course of the next two weeks, five other large-scale drawings have appeared in Edinburgh city centre. The aim of the project is use these portraits drawings of young men as a tool to provoke and question current social and media representations of this generation. The drawings once installed will generate spaces throughout the city charged for an encounter between the subject/protagonist and the passer-by/interpreter.
The project has achieved large amount of feedback and has now won an award for Public Realm category at Association Of Illustrators. The exhibition will be on from today till 27 October. I’m very pleased to be apart of the event and have the film screened at such a venue.
